Takiyah J. Thomas

Since July 1, 2022, Takiyah J Thomas has served as the Digital Equity Administrator for the Clayton County Georgia Board of Commissioners, Department of Information Technology, an inaugural role and the first of its kind in the state.

Ms. Thomas received her bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems from Devry University in 2009 and began her tech career with the Clayton County Board of Commissioners in 2011. She has served in many roles during her tenure, including help desk support, web development and maintenance, business intelligence, project management, system administration, technical training and development, social media marketing, and community and stakeholder engagement. As Digital Equity Administrator, she and her small but mighty team have brought digital equity awareness to the Clayton County community, heavily promoted the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), facilitated free digital skills trainings for residents, and formed invaluable partnerships with non-profits that bring free devices into the community.

In 2023, under Ms. Thomas’ leadership, the Clayton County Office of Digital Equity has received several accolades on behalf of Clayton County: Government Management Information Sciences (GMIS) International and Georgia Chapters for two Government to Citizen Awards (G2C) and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) 2023 Digital Inclusion Trailblazer Award. The efforts of the Clayton County Office of Digital Equity were also recently featured on Comcast Newsmakers.
