Dear SHLB Supporters,

Tomorrow, December 3, is Giving Tuesday, a global movement that began in 2012 to inspire people to contribute to the greater good. The concept is simple: extend the gratitude shared with family over Thanksgiving to the nonprofit community just a few days later.

Here at SHLB, we’re incredibly grateful for our amazing members and generous supporters who enable us to do what we love: tackling the digital divide with the passion and dedication of our nation’s incredible anchor institutions.

But we have a challenging road ahead. The Universal Service Fund (USF)—including the E-Rate and Rural Health Care programs—is under attack in the courts and on Capitol Hill. Some policymakers are urging the new Trump Administration to abandon the $42 billion BEAD program that promises gigabit-level broadband for anchor institutions.

We need all hands on deck to defend and preserve these essential programs. In the coming year, we’ll continue filing briefs with the Supreme Court, organizing a fly-in for SHLB members to meet with Congressional leaders, and amplifying our research to showcase the tremendous success of these initiatives. Your support is more critical than ever.
